POK Protest Against Pakistan – Indian Flag in POK : There was a clash between police and protesters on Friday (May 10) against rising inflation and power cuts in PoK. Pakistan imposed curfew in Mirpur district of PoK to stop the protest. People are protesting against the curfew.
In Mirpur, PoK, police fired tear gas shells on school students, injuring many students. In response to this, people in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan will hold a massive protest outside the Legislative Assembly on 11 May.
PoK’s largest party, United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) has questioned the arrests made during the protest. The party said that the police and the army together lathicharged the arrested protesters. UKPNP leaders Shaukat Ali Kashmiri and Nasir Aziz Khan demanded the immediate release of the arrested protesters. The UKPNP has called on the UN human rights body to intervene without delay.
Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said – Human rights are being violated in PoK.
Regarding the bad situation in PoK, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) itself has admitted that human rights are being violated continuously there. Last month also people had protested against rising inflation.

People came out on the streets at many places and raised slogans against the police. One kg flour is available there for 800 Pakistani rupees. Whereas, earlier it used to be Rs 230. The price of a roti there has reached Rs 25.
Pakistan’s crisis…
The country’s foreign exchange reserves are currently 8 billion dollars, which is equal to the import of goods for about one and a half months. The country should have enough money to import goods for at least 3 months.
Pakistan’s GDP is likely to grow at a rate of only 2.1% in 2024. At present the value of one dollar is equal to 276 Pakistani rupees.
